Located
in The Hills at 38 Stillmeadow, the 1994-built home gets
much of its appeal due to the fact it is on a double lot.
Every house you have seen was probably designed to fit on a
single lot. Wait until you see the difference it makes when
an architect has enough land to design a wide floorplan. The
result is a free flowing house with lots of glass.
A Garage On Steroids
Another advantage of the extra wide lot was the creation of
this unique, side-entry garage. The resident lady of this
home says she couldn't get her husband to commit to buying
anything--until he got a glimpse of this garage. It will
hold three cars and a golf cart. It is not only wide, it is
also extra deep which means there is room to store items
like tools, a riding mower, golfing equipment and camping
gear (Why men want to organize lots of tools they have no
idea how to properly use is a mystery, but the garage here
has the potential to seduce any man).
About The Kitchen
Makeover
Several years in the making, and costing almost $60,000, the
kitchen makeover perfectly compliments the rest of the
house. It now serves as the hub of activity with traffic
flow and orientation directed toward the family room and
pool unifying all of these entertainment areas. You can
prepare a meal while you stay in the loop of conversations.
Note the glass-front cabinets for displaying fun dishes, and
you can use the center island to mix ingredients, slice
bread or lay out plates for serving. There is task lighting
under the upper row of cabinets to properly illuminate the
long spans of granite counters. There is now a built-in
stainless refrigerator and a new kind of oven made by
Wolf--it is wall-mounted (easy to reach in and out without
bending
over) that is about twice as wide as the normal kind so you
can easily bake multiple items at the same time. And just
out of view in the photo above (but shown on the web) is an
extension of the kitchen that includes a wine bar, sink,
wine fridge and ice-maker. It is ideally placed for
convenient serving to the pool area.
Split Bedroom Design
Parents deserve their privacy, and this home has beneficial
placement of bedrooms. The master bedroom is on the first
floor, far right side of the house--three secondary bedrooms
are upstairs in the left wing of the house. If you have
older relatives who will visit, but can't climb stairs,
there is also a first floor guest room (with full bath).
Live here, and you can take
advantage of the home's proximity to the country club and
golf course. For example, you can walk to the club for
dinner, and if you want to play just nine holes, you can
call over to reserve a tee time and walk (or take the cart)
straight over to the tenth hole and tee off. Subject to
buying the house, the owners will sell their golf membership
at a friendlier price than what you'd have to spend to buy
one at "retail".
38 Stillmeadow has four bedrooms,
four baths, plus office/guest room. The kitchen has been
updated, and the split bedroom design can be a peacemaker if
you have teenagers. There is a pool, privacy-walled back
yard, and a garage like no other. According to the owners,
the home has about 3,701 sq. ft.
